About the role…
The core purpose of this role is to lead and supervise manufacturing operations team to safely ensure the on-time delivery of finished products at correct quality and cost and to champion continuous improvement in all activities and areas of responsibility. The successful candidate must demonstrate flexibility and be able to work alternative shift patterns (with relevant notice periods) and be able to be deployed anywhere within the business.
Key duties include, but are not limited to:
• Ensure that the team operates in accordance with the Company’s, Health Environmental and Safety policies, lead SHE activities in relevant areas.
• Lead the team to deliver Product to Cost and Quality requirements, ensuring that schedule adherence is met, creating recovery plans and short interval control where required.
• Assume responsibility for effective deployment of resource, achieving business returned hour targets are delivered.
• Redirect resources to other business units as and when required.
• Manage welfare and absence according to company procedure (holidays, sickness, disciplinary etc), ensure that RTW are carried within 24 hours of return.
• Drive team competence to deliver targets, ensuring flexibility within the team.
• Arrange on the job training courses with maximum attendance.
• Prepare daily reporting (upwards) of primary business measures.
• Ensure that the company Quality Management Systems and Manufacturing Procedures are followed.
• Maintain the competency, capability and capacity of the manufacturing team to ensure delivery of programme requirements.
• Personally carry out start and end of shift briefs, ensuring direct workforce receive daily communications and are kept appraised of key business topics.
• Responsible for the upkeep and communication of local KPIs (SQCDP) to team / and management.
• Lead daily auditing of workplace environment ensuring Target Conditions are met to “visitor ready” standards.
What we’re looking for…
Applications will be considered from those who have proven experience within a similar role within aerospace, automotive or similar mechanical engineering business and who have experience with leading and implementing manufacturing schedules and recover plans. We require a working knowledge of SAP, adequate computer skills including Microsoft Office and to have knowledge and understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP). Having experience in resource planning and competence management, project reporting including definition and collation of KPIs and factory maintenance and PM planning is desirable. Holding a degree or HND in Manufacturing or Engineering Discipline and holding an IOSH/NEBOSH certificate would be advantageous.
