About the role…

The core purpose of this job function is to be responsible for the delivery of Engineering projects on time and on cost. This includes ensuring that our technical performance standards are maintained, delivering mechanical systems that meet customer specifications and regulatory needs, and providing subject matter expertise including hydraulic engineering solutions. You will also provide technical leadership for engineers and functional departments within KNDS UK and with our customers.

Key duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop engineering solutions working in conjunction with designers within the team.
  • Check drawings.
  • Prepare technical documents such as specifications, reports, manuals, procedures etc.
  • Undertake hardware development and testing including in the field of hydraulics.
  • Compile, authorise and check technical documents and test specifications.
  • Manage test programmes.
  • Interpret technical specifications.
  • Liaise with suppliers and act as a KNDS UK representative at customer review meetings.
  • Apply Engineering Governance to project portfolio.
  • Provide support for the production, test and field engineering teams.
  • Support the sales team with bids and quotations.
  • To assist in the planning and managing all resources to deliver projects.
  • To assist with continuous improvement of the design engineering capability.
  • Work Resource planning within the Design Team.
  • Project Management of Design projects in collaboration with the team Project Managers and PCD documents.
  • Monitoring hours and work tasks in line with the project requirements.
  • Checking and approval of design work, drawings and relevant documents.
  • Support and provide meaningful input within the team on design work and structural work as part of the current Senior Engineer Responsibilities.
  • Administration of Teamcenter and Solid Edge Software.
  • Provide new team member support and conduct interviews for new candidates.

What we’re looking for…

We need you to be qualified to a degree level in a relevant engineering subject, with significant experience at a senior level in design, testing, and development of mechanical systems, preferably with hydraulics, with medium and heavy engineering with an understanding of the behaviour of large welded and bolted mechanical structures and to have proven experience in the design of systems from original concept design, through to production in a lead role.
