About the role..

The core responsibility of this role is to provide full Safety, Health & Environmental support to the SHE Manager ensuring that the Company adheres to all relevant Health, Safety and Environmental Legislation, Guidance and ACOPs. Maintain records appropriately to demonstrate this.. The day-to-day tasks of this role include but are not limited to:

• To support the SHE Manager in the completion of planned work tasks to maintain continued legal compliance.

• Develop proactive relationships with all WFEL personnel to promote a positive, engaging and inclusive EHS Culture.

• Liaise and coordinate audit activities with all external certification bodies ensuring the retention of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 as appropriate.

• To conduct internal audits in alignment with the internal audit plan relating to the ISO14001 and ISO45001 standards.

• Support the SHE Manager and SHEQ Director as they liaise with other interested parties (EG: Regulatory Authorities and Insurers).

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of SHE performance relating to Hazards Reported, SHE Incidents and Accidents and all related pareto analytics. Report the required performance data up to KMW.

• Chair the monthly joint SHE Committee.

• To support the SHE Manager and operational management team in the investigation of all SHE Incidents and Accidents in order to identify root and underlying causes to prevent recurrence.

• To support the SHE Manager in the delivery of timely communication to all personnel (One-liners, Toolbox Talks, SHE Briefings) and also with the delivery of behavioural and cultural improvement training as necessary to encourage engagement and overall improvements in the Integrated Management System.

• Track, monitor and assist in the close-out on time of corrective actions generated from Internal/ External Audits, Investigations and Hazard Reports.

• Support all departments in the management and control of contractors by ensuring the related Work Instruction is adhered to in a consistent manner. This also applies to other key Safe Systems of Work.

• Support the operations teams in all risk reduction activities in their respective areas as aligned with their local risk register actions.

• Maintain the Risk Assessments and database ensuring they are reviewed and revised accordingly to reflect current practice. To liaise with departmental stakeholders and Safety Representatives when formulating and reviewing all risk assessments.

• Maintain lists of First Aid providers, Fire Wardens and Area Safety Representatives. Provide support to them in the form of relevant updates and regular contact.

• Assist in the appointment of Waste Removal providers including all aspects of Duty of Care as well as ensuring waste is adequately controlled whilst held on site in the waste areas.

• Support the business as it seeks to reduce Energy Use and improve Energy Efficiency including using alternative energy sources.

• Assist the SHE Manager in the appointment of External Companies to support the continued compliance of the business in all aspects of SHE for monitoring, measurement and evaluation.

What we need from you..

We need for you to hold a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent, holding an AIEMA or equivalent would be an advantage. We would also need you to hold a minimum of a C in English and Math at GCSE level or equivalent. The ideal candidate will have experience in working within a similar role and experience with working with management Systems (ISO14001 & ISO45001) and MS programs. Experience in heavy manufacturing would be an advantage.
